Solutions for the Medical Packaging Sector
For the Medical market, KRAIBURG TPE (kraiburg-tpe.com) will exhibit its MC series. KRAIBURG TPE complies with the strictest requirements in terms of the development, production, and handling of medical-grade plastics (MGP). The THERMOLAST® M compounds are characterized by their adhesion to PP and PE as well as optimal compression set, imperative for static or dynamic seal applications.
Designed for packaging seals, valves and flexible connections, these materials have a wide durometer range from 30 to 90 Shore A. The MC series is the material solution for applications requiring medical approvals such as ISO 10993-5 and food regulations. In addition, the MC series can be used in direct contact with bodily fluids and blood.
Medical Series for Pharmaceutical Closures
Additionally, KRAIBURG TPEs’ medical compounds offer multi-component adhesion to plastic caps creating hermetically secure seals for closure applications with resealing requirements. The medical grades conform to the VDI 2017 standard for ‘medical grade’ materials and allow have chemical adhesion to PP/ PE, while being free of silicone, latex, PVC, phthalates, and animal ingredients. Typical applications include closure caps for IV bottles, bags, vials, and membranes that are penetrated frequently.
All KRAIBURG TPE medical compounds are tested according to ISO 10993-5 (Cytotoxicity). Selected medical compounds are tested according to medical approvals (USP Class VI (chapter88)), ISO 10993-4 (Haemolysis, indirect in human blood), ISO 10993-10 (Intracutaneous Irritation) and ISO 10993-11 (Acute Systemic Toxicity), ISO8871-1 (Part 1: Extractables in aqueousautoclavates))
