The ECE phase take approximately 18 months alongside the building’s design and be followed by a delivery phase. Further CPB Contractors involvement in the delivery of the Inpatient Building would be confirmed in 2023.

The New Dunedin Hospital project (newdunedinhospital.nz) is the single biggest hospital project ever undertaken in New Zealand. The Inpatient Building will provide high quality medical facilities, a better layout of services and support its role as a tertiary teaching hospital. It will include 421 beds and be constructed on a site in central Dunedin.

CIMIC Group Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Juan Santamaria said: “CPB has provided several important health facilities in New Zealand and Australia in recent times, including the Waipapa building in Christchurch. Our capabilities in health facility planning, technology and design will support the Ministry of Health and the Southern District Health Board to achieve a new hospital that incorporates technology and processes that improve efficiency and the experience of patients and staff.”

CPB Contractors Managing Director Jason Spears said: “CPB Contractors is experienced in delivering major new hospitals and will apply this expertise to make a positive contribution to the New Dunedin Hospital during the ECE phase. This is an important project for the city of Dunedin and the broader region, and we are pleased to have the opportunity to apply our expertise.”

CPB Contractors (cpbcon.com.au) has delivered major hospital projects in both New Zealand and Australia, including the Waipapa building (formerly known as the Acute Services Building) at Christchurch Hospital, the Northern Beaches Hospital at Sydney, and major upgrades to the Nepean, Wagga Wagga, Coffs Harbour and Campbelltown hospitals in Australia.
