Heidenheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, 2021/04/07 - In the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, Voith Hydro successfully completed the transport of the first stator for the expansion of the hydropower plant Töging am Inn in Bavaria - Voith.com. FSE: VO2A
• Widest transport in the history of Voith Hydro Heidenheim leaves the factory premises.
• Stator has a diameter of 8.2 meters and a weight of over 100 tons.
• Delivery object is part of the first of three 55 MVA generators for the renewal of the power station Töging am Inn.
The fully assembled stator with a diameter of 8.2 meters and a weight of 105 tons is the widest component ever to leave the Voith Hydro Heidenheim plant premises in the history of the company.
Because the stator protruded the already three-meter wide heavy-duty truck by 2.5 meters on each side, traffic lights and traffic signs as well as the signal systems in a tunnel had to be dismantled along the planned route. The heavy transport had to complete the approximately 250-kilometer journey within one night because there was no suitable parking space along the way.
"The successful implementation of such a transport only works with detailed preparation and close coordination with the freight company and local authorities. Because in the end, a few centimeters are decisive."
Stephan Pfeuffer, Head of Shipping at Voith Hydro Heidenheim
Upon arrival at the destination, the last obstacle, the steep descent to the powerhouse, was overcome via a specially constructed access road.
The stator is part of the first of three 55 MVA generators with which Voith is supporting the energy production increase as part of a renewal project at the almost 100-year-old power plant on the River Inn.
