“Due to COVID-19, veterinary clinics across the country have put critical spay/neuter surgeries on hold for months, leaving thousands of shelter pets unaltered," said Cathy Bissell, founder of BISSELL Pet Foundation (BPF). "Knowing this, BISSELL Pet Foundation is awarding more spay/neuter grant funding than ever to support shelters' needs and ensure the health and safety of pets."
BPF’s spring grant cycle will award funding to 86 organizations in 28 states totaling $487,418 for spay/neuter.
As part of Walk Me Home Rescue Group’s primary mission, we seek to rescue, medical treat and find forever homes for the dogs that enter our organization. Since many of our dogs come from the various local shelters, we understand first hand the importance of spay, neuter and microchipping animals. Our grant program includes an educational component that will provide opportunities for youth to learn the importance of healthy animal care and understand that they can help the stop of overpopulation and unwanted animals in their communities.
“The volunteers of our non-profit rescue group dedicate their time and passion towards helping the community at large and dogs in need. Their efforts continue to have a positive impact to the southern California community. We are grateful for all our volunteers, donors and supporters; this grant will help to spay/neuter 30 of our rescue dogs,” said Laura Duncan, CFO of Walk Me Home Rescue Group.
With a mission to find every pet a home, BPF focuses their efforts on adoption, spay/neuter, microchipping and emergency support.
About Walk Me Home Rescue Group
Walk Me Home Rescue Group (walkmehomerescue.org) is an all-volunteer donation-based non-profit organization under IRS section 501©(3). We rely on the generosity of our friends and the community to realize our mission of safeguarding, rescuing, medically treating, spay/neutering, and finding forever homes for the dogs that enter our rescue. Our dogs come from local street abandonment local owner surrenders and local shelter facilities; including dogs scheduled for euthanasia. Our rescue is 100 percent foster-based, meaning our dogs are placed in the home of a loving volunteer foster family where they are incorporated into the daily lives of that family. The dogs are evaluated, medically cared for, loved and also receive basic training skills to aid in the transition to their forever home.
