The Energy Efficiency Advice Centre network was established by the Energy Saving Trust (EST) in 1993. This was in response to the UK Government's pledge to do its part to tackle climate change at the 1992 Earth Summit. EEAC’s are not for profit, independent organisations that have the advantage of a firm understanding of the local area, housing stock and government grants available in each area to help towards the costs of installing measures.

It is estimated that UK households are responsible for over a quarter of the country’s carbon emissions yet recent research by USwitch highlighted that 79% of people felt that they did not have enough information to help them become more energy efficient.
