InterSystems, a global leader in information technology platforms for health, business and government applications, today announced that Beijing Skyline Technology Co., Ltd., a pioneer in China’s astronomical services sector has successfully deployed the first intelligent astronomical observation service platform in China, which links up the domestic astronomical telescopes for astrophiles and astronomical professionals. The platform is built upon the InterSystems IRIS™ data platform.
Via InterSystems IRIS, any enabled Skyline telescope can access the Skyline intelligent astronomic observation service platform, allowing “shared” astronomic telescopes to be used by astrophiles and astronomic professionals alike. This opens up a world of possibility: astrophiles can see the night sky from perspectives around the world, while Professional astronomers can make full use of the potential of shared equipment to obtain celestial data for observation and computational research.
At the core of InterSystems IRIS is a high-performance database, which provides data lifecycle management, native interoperability, transactional and analytic processing capabilities. Designed for cloud applications, InterSystems IRIS is able to effectively address the ever-increasing workloads, data amounts / types, and concurrent user accesses, providing developers with a preferred option to quickly develop applications.
InterSystems IRIS comes with the embedded capability to run structural and non-structural analytics and AI models, as well as a flexible multi-model database optimized for AI engineering, enabling data scientists to quickly and easily capture, aggregate, and normalize data needed to build and commission AI models. With InterSystems IRIS, the Skyline platform provides the ability to perform data management and develop insights into the astronomical data that multiple telescopes capture, so that stargazers can create AI models using massive astronomic data, effectively speculate on celestial evolutions, and search for exoplanets and supernovae.
“I know how InterSystems IRIS performs, and that’s why we partner with each other,” said Li Qingshan, founder of Skyline. “By incorporating InterSystems IRIS, we are able to analyze massive data. Use of AI in celestial exploration represents one of the major trends in the future, and we highly value IRIS’ potentials in terms of data insights and AI capabilities.”
“Empowering partners is what we have been doing,” said Luciano Brustia, Country Manager for Australia, Greater China and Korea, InterSystems. “Skyline needs a tool that can be used to efficiently and easily access various types of data and develop deep insights, and InterSystems IRIS offers really high reliability, interoperability, security and scalability, which are needed to address both challenges and opportunities in the era of AI.”
The Skyline intelligent astronomic observation service platform will be showcased at InterSystems Booth # E2E10 at the 2019 China International Big Data Industry Expo, bringing visitors a different stargazing experience.
