The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) announced the regional winners of the Edward R. Murrow Awards this week, with the local news operations of Nexstar Broadcasting, Inc. receiving a total of twenty-seven regional awards of which four awards were given for Overall Excellence. This year, several of the Company’s award-winning entries highlighted the critical local news coverage and essential services provided by Nexstar stations to ensure the safety of local communities in times of emergency.
Tim Busch, President of Nexstar Broadcasting commented,“From the very beginning, Nexstar has cultivated an organization-wide commitment to localism through the production of unique local content that is relevant to each of the communities we serve. For that reason, Nexstar Broadcasting and our award-winning stations are honored to be recognized by the RTDNA for the work we do every day to uphold our promise to deliver local programming that engages, entertains and informs our local audiences. From breaking news coverage to investigative reporting we produce and distribute over 200,000 hours of local news annually and tell the local stories that matter to our viewers and their families. In times of disaster and tragedy, our local stations and dedicated news personnel also take the lead in delivering critical local information and weather coverage to ensure the safety of area residents. We are extraordinarily proud of our strong standing in our local markets and these prestigious Edward R. Murrow Awards reflect the exceptional service our teams provide to their local communities.”
“Nexstar’s more than 3,500 local journalists are dedicated to delivering engaging experiences that create lasting connections with local audiences through our innovative local content creation and community involvement,” added Jerry Walsh, VP of Local Content Development at Nexstar Media Group. “We applaud our stations and our journalists that are being honored by the RTDNA. Their award-winning productions reflect our Company’s mission of providing the local viewers we serve with the highest quality local news programming and service.
