United Controls International (UCI) is an engineering and testing firm, out of Norcross, Georgia, USA, that specializes in design, procurement, testing, and qualification of parts and equipment.
In addition to UCI’s long list of specialties, it is their various Quality Programs (NQA-1 2008/2009 Addenda, 10CFR50 Appendix B, ISO 9001:2015, and N299.4) that assure the customer that their products meet the quality and safety standards of the nuclear industry. Throughout the years, UCI has completed projects for companies all over the world; however, UCI has never expanded operations beyond their Norcross, GA facility. After receipt of their first Canadian purchase order, UCI is excited to announce that they have opened a location in Owen Sound, Ontario.
In November 2018, United Controls International (unitedcontrols.com) was awarded their first Bruce Power contract. The awarded, million dollar plus contract is for the design and manufacturing of equipment used to support Bruce Power in their refurbishment efforts. The order has a localization clause which requires UCI to procure an estimated 80-90% of the materials within a Tri-County spread of Ontario. Bruce Power added this requirement to support their localization goal of spending over 90% of the life extension investment in Ontario.
In order to meet this Purchase Order requirement, UCI decided to dive deeper into the Canadian market by opening up a location in Owen Sound, Ontario. As of February 2019, UCI has currently infused over three-quarters of a Million dollars into the Owen Sound area, in funding of this first contract. UCI is extremely optimistic and excited for future opportunities with Bruce Power and the Canadian market as a whole.
