On January 18, 2019, the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce presented the John R. Cherry Community Award to Dr. John Powderly. This award is named in honor of John R. Cherry, the founder of the Chamber who has also been active in servant leadership for several decades. It is the highest award the Chamber presents to a member who has made a significant contribution to the community and region in civic service.
Dr. John Powderly of Huntersville operates the only independent Phase I Cancer Clinic plus human application lab in the United States. Over the last 13 years, Dr Powderly has provided access to cutting edge cancer treatment for over 3,000 patients through 80 clinical trials. His research on early phase immunotherapy research has led to over 100 publications.
Dr. Powderly had an inspiring message regarding his efforts in cancer treatment and research.
