ScanX, Inc. has announced the appointment of Laurie M. Clotilde, Ph.D. as Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of Operations, overseeing product development and technical operations.
“ScanX has had success in demonstrating rapid bacterial detection with E. coli and having Dr. Clotilde take the reins of scientific product development will quickly allow ScanX to complete commercially sound detection capability for E. coli, Listeria, and Salmonella. Laurie’s background with top federal government institutions provides ScanX a network of great collaborators and partners,” said Rock Clapper, Ph.D., Chairman of ScanX, Inc.
Dr. Clotilde has over a decade of experience developing cutting-edge technologies into complete customer solutions, has regulatory experience at both USDA and FDA, and served previously in product development roles at other Silicon Valley biotechnology startups.
“I am excited to join ScanX because detection of pathogens is a dear topic of mine,” said Dr. Clotilde. “With the recent outbreaks of bacteria in romaine lettuce and ground beef, it is obvious that rapid, and ideally real-time, bacterial detection in finished products has become a must. Our goal at ScanX is to make such tests readily accessible to the food industry in order to avoid recurring snowball effect of human illnesses, damage to food company reputations, and the loss of millions of dollars due to recalling and destroying products.”
