• Free website will include trades, firm bids/offers and heards from across the LNG market
• Brings further price transparency to the LNG spot market
S&P Global Platts, the leading independent provider of information and benchmark prices for the commodities and energy markets, today announced that it has launched a dedicated and freely available website to distribute LNG market information throughout the trading day.
Confirmed trades, firm bids and offers, tender announcements and transactional activity heard across the market will be published on the Platts LNG MOC website. Information on fundamentals in the LNG cargo and freight markets, as well as related markets may also be published.
Francis Browne, editorial director Gas & Power, Energy Price Group at S&P Global Platts said: “LNG trading is witnessing strong growth in terms of volumes but also in the number of active participants. The launch of the new Platts LNG MOC website will bring additional price transparency to LNG spot trading, further supporting the growth of the industry.”
Platts LNG price assessments are built on the Platts Market-on-Close (MOC) methodology, a highly-transparent price assessment process based on the principle that price is a function of time. The MOC process identifies bid, offer and transaction data by company and results in a time-sensitive, end-of-trading-day daily price assessment.
