Dataguise, a leader in data-centric audit and protection (DCAP), today introduced its first Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) version of the company’s flagship product, DgSecure Detect. DgSecure Detect is a fully automated software solution for discovering and detecting all personal, confidential, and otherwise sensitive data amassed by global enterprises. In use at Fortune 500 companies since 2007, DgSecure Detect has always been considered extremely easy to deploy and use with no coding required. Now, the company is making it even easier with this on demand (SaaS) version, initially supporting Amazon Redshift and Amazon RDS databases. For Amazon Web Services (AWS) customers that need to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the SaaS version of DgSecure Detect is timely and will accelerate compliance efforts significantly.

The GDPR is the most comprehensive data privacy law to date with a pending compliance deadline by May 25, 2018. Sensitive data discovery is the fundamental first step to compliance with most data privacy regulations, but the GDPR makes it even more necessary with its requirement to give individuals access to all personal data held about them without undue delay. The GDPR also requires some organizations to appoint a data protection officer (DPO), for whom enterprise-wide personal data discovery and detection will prove to be invaluable. In addition, the GDPR mandates data privacy by design and by default, meaning that personal data discovery must be an ongoing, integral part of any business process that involves data especially as it flows among users, between enterprises, across international borders, and into the cloud. Keeping track of it all manually will be impossible, and fines for non-compliance could be substantial.

DgSecure Detect (Saas) lets users now enjoy the same benefits of the industry’s “original” sensitive data discovery solution without having to install software. It allows any business using the cloud to automatically locate sensitive and personal data with the least amount of effort. Users simply click on a URL to see a list of databases available to them, then select those they want to scan for sensitive and personal data. Policies determine what types of data to look for and when. Dataguise offers built-in policy templates by default to make comprehensive, accurate discovery as easy as possible, but users can just as easily make changes to the policies to suit their needs. Scans may be scheduled for a certain time every day or on specific days of the week.

“Organizations now require a much more fluid data security and compliance strategy because the volume of sensitive information has exploded beyond expectations and is distributed well outside the traditional datacenter,” said JT Sison, VP, Business Development & Marketing. “We focused our initial SaaS efforts on discovery, since that is the critical first step in any data protection or compliance strategy. But the DgSecure platform also supports the next important steps of data masking, data encryption, and data monitoring on the widest range of data types and repositories, and we look forward to delivering additional SaaS products in the near future.”
