Royal DSM, a global science company active in health, nutrition and materials, has today launched a dedicated Uralac® Ultra website dsm.com/ultra to mark a new chapter for this breakthrough technology, which enables first-time-right powder coating of heat-sensitive substrates such as medium-density fiberboard (MDF).
DSM has pioneered the development of polyester resins for powder coatings since the 1960’s, Uralac Ultra was developed specifically for use on MDF and other heat sensitive wood products. While other commercially available resins cure for longer periods of time at temperatures of around 170°C, Uralac Ultra resins can be cured at around 130°C in three minutes.
The new Uralac Ultra website (dsm.com/ultra) provides general information about the various products in DSM’s expanding product portfolio, specific information about the Ultra powder coatings, application results at leading brands, and further details of DSM’s comprehensive service package. Through the new website, samples can be requested, test runs at the test facility in Zwolle, the Netherlands can be scheduled, and specific efficiency gains to experience the benefits of this exciting solution can be calculated.
Martijn van Gurp, Business Director Innovation, Powder Can & Coil Coating Resins “In line with our customer-centric approach, the new website addresses the growing demand by OEMs, furniture coaters and designers for information about the Uralac Ultra technology and DSM’s services. More than ever, Uralac Ultra is an attractive value proposition because of its unique value proposition, addressing; environmental, practical and aesthetic advantages. It’s the logical choice when phasing out traditional solvent-borne solutions.”
Paul Maeyninckx, Owner, Kempa: “My company switched from using liquid paint to powder coatings, and we’ve never looked back. Thanks to Uralac Ultra technology, we’ve achieved a ten-fold time reduction in our panel coating process but make no mistake, this increased speed has not impacted at all on quality. In addition, with Uralac Ultra, our customers can achieve ‘green’ credentials in their proposed tenders for local and national government new builds.”
