The Civica Group, a market leader in business-critical software applications, digital solutions and outsourcing services, has announced the launch of Civica Digital, a newly unified division with a leading specialist capability to support the ongoing drive for digital transformation across both the public and private sectors.
Civica Digital combines the digital expertise and experience of recent strategic acquisitions by the Group, including Asidua, Web Technology Group (WTG), IPL and SFW Ltd, alongside the existing Civica Digital Solutions*. The combined business, which comprises almost 900 employees, provides a complete capability to deliver a new generation of digital services from concept to implementation. Combining a user-centred approach with experience of planning, building and managing secure business-critical web applications, Civica Digital has a track record of supporting 500 customers and is ideally placed to respond to greater use of digital technology and automation which is driving significant change for all organisations.
The new division builds on Civica's unification of recent acquisitions, and represents a new identity for Asidua, WTG, IPL and SFW, which now all come under the Civica Digital brand.
Driven by rapid advances in technology, and the greater availability of data, the digital revolution continues to change the way all organisations think and operate. People and businesses demand services compatible with their preferences and provide consistent anytime, anywhere access. Civica Digital now provides a unified and market-leading digital solutions capability, responding to increased demand for new platforms to underpin operational efficiency and embrace more transformational ways of working to create high-value digital services and an improved experience for customers.
Wayne Story, chief executive of Civica said,“All organisations are looking to transform the way they work and to make savings and there is increasing recognition that improvement is dependent on digital technology and automation. The launch of Civica Digital strengthens our position as a leading partner for our customers, and we are excited by the potential to help organisations transform services and improve lives. Civica Digital builds on a strong heritage and is uniquely positioned to help our customers achieve ambitious objectives, underpinned by deep expertise of the specific sectors we support.”
Civica Digital has a long heritage of helping organisations across central government, national security, local and regional government, financial services, health & care, public safety, travel & transport and utilities. It has provided solutions for 500 private and public sector organisations including, among others, the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, NI Direct, Nationwide Building Society, FirstGroup, the Electoral Commission and Harrow Council, helping to improve customer services, workforce productivity and operational efficiency through streamlined business processes.
George Maybury, BT Account Director for the innovative and class leading NI Direct programme commented,“Civica Digital has brought a wealth of technical and professional skills to bear, which have been key to the successful launch of a large number of significant digital services for the public sector which in turn positively impact on millions of citizens.”
Civica Digital comprises proven capability across the following solution areas:
Business insight & analytics - Using big data and analytics to help create a single view of customer interactions and unlock data to make more informed decisions;
Digital software - a suite of market-leading digital and web applications to accelerate digital transformation;

Recent acquisitions by Civica incorporated into Civica Digital together with existing Civica Group capabilities include:
Asidua Holdings, a provider of software, integration and consultancy services for government and corporate customers, including multi-channel contact solutions;
IPL, a digital consulting and transformation firm with expertise in business-critical applications, digital and mobile solutions, data management and analytics used to improve customer experience, operational efficiency and risk management;
SFW Ltd, a specialist in building and managing digital solutions for the public sector, with core capabilities in digital engagement, CRM-based applications and workplace collaboration, and a strong record of helping organisations to digitise internal processes and customer interactions;
WTG (Web Technology Group), a specialist in digital services and web-based applications development with an established position in developing complex, secure web applications and digital services for UK Government.
These businesses have been brought into one core division alongside the firm's existing Digital360 offering: a customisable suite of software which goes beyond channel shift to provide a 360 degree approach to service delivery.
TechMarketView LLP, UK Public Sector SITS Supplier Landscape report 2016-2017:
“We think Civica is well placed to win business in the digital space, not least because it's seen as smaller than the large SIs, but big enough to be a safe pair of hands for government projects. The addition of IPL also took Civica into new vertical markets, such that it now describes its focus as public sector and regulated markets - the latter including financial services, energy & utilities, travel & transport and telecoms sectors - and counts the likes of the Nationwide Building Society and First Group amongst its customers. However, the vast majority of Civica's revenue is still derived from the public sector and its understanding of, and track record in, the various segments of the public sector is one of the things that sets it apart from many competitors.”
