FinancialForce, the leading cloud ERP provider on the Salesforce Platform, today announced that Interlochen Center for the Arts, a nonprofit arts education institution, has implemented FinancialForce’s Everyday HCM™ (Human Capital Management) application to manage its everyday human resources processes. Founded in 1928 in northwest Michigan, Interlochen is visited by thousands of artists and arts patrons each year to experience world-class educational and cultural opportunities across music, theatre, visual arts, motion picture arts, comparative arts, creative writing and dance.
Dedicated to empowering students to collaborate and inspire each other through the universal language of the arts, Interlochen desires for those same values to be experienced by employees. However, prior to FinancialForce HCM, Interlochen was using an array of disjointed solutions to manage key pieces of HR like recruiting, performance management and compensation planning, resulting in a disconnected employee experience. Because Interlochen manages different levels of staff, including a group of year-round, full-time employees and a large number of seasonal, hourly employees, the HR team was spending more time managing data and handling paperwork than adding real value to the organization.
Interlochen realized that it needed a single, unified system to manage its entire “hire to retire” lifecycle in order to become a cutting-edge HR department, and ultimately selected FinancialForce HCM as the most comprehensive system for its needs. Now, Interlochen can do it all recruitment, hiring, tracking and managing full-time and seasonal workforce in one single app.
“We wanted a system that would make that transition from, ‘I want to work at Interlochen, ’ to ‘I am going to work at Interlochen, ’ to ‘I’m arriving here to work at Interlochen, ’ as smooth as possible,” said Michael Slawnik, Manager of Applications and Development at Interlochen. “FinancialForce HCM has allowed us to streamline that. What stood out for us about FinancialForce HCM was the user experience. The way that it took very, very complex pieces of data, like what benefits I am enrolled in, what I am eligible for, how that all fit together last year, etc., and how they put that together for the end user to manage was really awesome.”
Further, Interlochen managers now have data at their fingertips, making reporting and strategic hiring, compensation and training decisions more effective and faster than ever before. Employees no longer rely on the HR department for paperwork or administrative tasks. With FinancialForce HCM’s self-service portal, employees are empowered to engage and collaborate with other team members and surface information and forms with just a few clicks.
Kim Zubrickas, Executive Director of HIR at Interlochen, explained,“FinancialForce is really helping us be more successful and have a higher level of internal customer service for our employees. They love being able to go in the system and look at their vacation time, their sick time and all of their data. They can change it on their own in real time, and because of that reason, they have connected a lot more with Interlochen.”
Additional FinancialForce HCM benefits realized by Interlochen include:
• Reduction of on-boarding paperwork: There is now a single employee record; an applicant record becomes the interview record, which becomes a new hire record. FinancialForce makes it so everyone can find what they need to get up to speed quickly.
• Fewer errors and data inaccuracies: The self-service ability for managers and employees has removed all kinds of data inaccuracies, inconsistencies and time-consuming processes chasing down answers.
• Payroll connectivity: FinancialForce HCM seamlessly connects to ADP Payroll. The HCM Payroll interface allows the two systems to talk to each other so everyone gets paid on time.
• Clicks not Code: Interlochen HR can easily customize the solution through Clicks not Code. The flexibility of FinancialForce allows even the most non-technical person to work IT magic in the system.
