GME, founded by Wesley Kelly, has garnered success in the Atlanta music scene having a hand in the promotion and marketing of acts including Shawty Lo, Kwony Cash, Sebastian Mikael, Young Snead, and Niko Suave. The label's most recent promising star is its first female Urban Pop artist, Alexis Ayaana (alexisayaana.com). Coming off the success of her debut single "Balenciaga", GME is excited to further the brand with the release of Alexis' EP "Twenty-One" in January 2017. This new project features music by Grammy-nominated producer Drumma Boy Fresh, and is the first to be distributed under the union with Empire.
"There were several situations on the table for this project, but thought Empire would be the best fit for what we want to accomplish," states Kelly. "We had a dinner meeting with the head of Empire, Ghazi (Shami), and I respected his vision on the current state of the music industry and his approach to the online push necessary to create traction for a project in today's musical climate. The structure of Empire's distribution agreement gives us the creative and business autonomy I seek, while also providing an additional support system for us to work within."
GME (grownmoneyentertainment.com) has been a respected business within the Atlanta community for over 10 years. Along with the record label division, it is a conglomerate which includes a sports bar, state of the art recording studio, and internet radio outlet. Kelly states: "The GME compound is located on the historical west side of Atlanta, walking distance from the Atlanta University Center (AUC), Georgia Dome, and well-known Black churches. Our ultimate purpose within everything we do is to empower and create economic growth in our community. With the passion and relentless work ethic we encompass, we have the resources to do so, and music is our biggest gateway to achieve that vision."
