Calling all kitchen designers: It’s time for a colorful cooktop upgrade. SCHOTT, the international technology group, has expanded the color palette for its CERAN CLEARTRANS transparent glass-ceramic cooktop to include a metallic rosé gold (CLEAR flamingo), a deep and dark grey (CLEAR caja grey), and a warm charcoal (CLEAR zara grey). These colors, and the many possibilities a transparent glass-ceramic cooktop holds, break the long-standing limitation of a black or white cooktop in contemporary kitchen design.
Designers using CERAN CLEARTRANS’s color options can create bold, decorative designs for induction cooktops. Appliance makers and designers are now able to craft individual pieces that match the color themes of specialized and custom kitchens; cooktops can be colored to different shades, take on a stainless-steel or matte finish, or feature 3D effects based on layered colors and displays with LED lighting.
What does that mean? Thousands of color combinations are possible with a CERAN CLEARTRANS glass-ceramic cooktop, offering chefs and homeowners more flexibility to achieve their dream kitchen.
Bringing the kitchen into the future
CERAN CLEARTRANS can push cooktops into the smart home movement, too. Digital or LED displays fixed under a transparent glass-ceramic cooktop provide chefs with recipes, grocery lists, or cooking times directly in the cooktop.
Both the design possibilities CLEARTRANS permits and the inclusion of LED displays on the cooking surface give designers even more possibilities to create a custom cooktop.
“Appliance engineers and designers meticulously plan out matching and contrasting colors, textures, and shapes for modern kitchen plans, but for years they were stuck with using a black cooktop. That’s no longer the case,” said Rob Gandenberger. “CLEARTRANS combines the strength and durability of a CERAN cooktop with awe-inspiring design possibilities. Appliance manufacturers can use any color swatch at their disposal to create eye-catching cooktops that are just as high performing and long lasting.”
Almost 70 CERAN CLEARTRANS designs were featured in SCHOTT’s CERAN Design Awards during IFA earlier in September. Hanh Phan won the competition with her design “OnLines,” which featured strong but minimalist white lines on a CLEAR flamingo background, in a free-floating induction cooktop.
