Four innovative learning products from Pearson are winners in the 2016 Tech & Learning Awards of Excellence. Career and Technology Courses Business Management and Administration from Connections Education, MyEconLab, WriteToLearn and Q-interactive were all honored in the 34-year-old recognition program. This is WriteToLearn’s third win in this awards program and Q-interactive’s second.
“Once again this year, the Tech & Learning judges examined hundreds of entries to select those products that were deemed worthy of our 2016 Award of Excellence. This wasn’t just checking off spec sheets and surfing other people’s reviews. Each product was handled and scored individually. Not an easy task,” said Kevin Hogan, editorial director for NewBay Media’s Tech & Learning Group.
Entries were divided into two categories: New Products and Best Upgraded Products. All four Pearson products, along with the judges’ comments, will be featured in the December 2016/January 2017 issue of Tech & Learning magazine.
Pearson’s Best New Product Winner:
Career and Technology Courses Business Management and Administration from Connections Education: These online courses are for high school students interested in exploring careers and gaining career-specific knowledge through engaging multimedia content, personalized study guides, user-specific pacing charts, interactive exercises and more. Courses in this track include Business Communication, Business Information Systems, Business Law and Introduction to Business.
Pearson’s Best Upgraded Product Winners:
MyEconLab: Digital Interactives in MyEconLab promote critical thinking and application of economic principles. Each Digital Interactive has 3-5 progressive levels and many include real-time data from FRED™ allowing professors and students to display, in graphs and tables, up-to-the-minute data on key macro variables. Topics include Comparative Advantage, Opportunity Cost, Unemployment, Consumer Price Index/Inflation and Monetary Policy.
WriteToLearn: Pearson’s award-winning automatically scored, web-based tool for building writing and reading comprehension skills for students in grades 4-12 is used in hundreds of schools around the country. WriteToLearn provides students the opportunity to practice their essay and summary writing skills and expand their vocabulary. The tool instantly assesses student work by evaluating the meaning of text, not just grammar and spelling. With WriteToLearn, teachers can assign students practice writing while reducing time spent on laborious editing and scoring. As a result, they can spend more time on focused, personalized instruction.
Q-interactive: Q-interactive is an innovative digital system used by psychologists, speech-language pathologists and special education teachers to administer tests via two iPad® mobile digital devices connected with Bluetooth.
