John Wiley and Sons, Inc. announced today that it has been selected by the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) as its publishing partner for its distinguished publication, the International Journal of Gynecology & Obstetrics (IJGO). This agreement, commencing in January 2017, will see the Journal move to the Wiley Online Library platform.
Founded in 1954 and with member societies in 130 countries and territories across the world, FIGO (figo.org) has been an influential leader in disseminating knowledge and promoting awareness of obstetrics and gynecology among researchers, policy makers, and the broader community for over 60 years, particularly within low-income countries. In keeping with FIGO’s mission, the partnership will expand the global reach and visibility of IJGO, and provide an enhanced digital presence and exciting new services for FIGO members, authors, readers and editors.
“We are delighted to begin this exciting relationship with FIGO to publish IJGO,” said Wiley’s Society Director, Maria Khan. “FIGO’s mission to improve women’s health and rights around the world is an inspiration to us, and we look forward to working with the Federation to further advance the science and practice of obstetrics and gynecology.”
Professor Hamid Rushwan, FIGO Chief Executive, said: “FIGO is delighted to partner with Wiley on its longstanding and highly regarded publication IJGO. The Journal has for many years served an international audience, publishing articles on all aspects of basic and clinical research in the fields of obstetrics and gynecology and related subjects, with emphasis on matters of worldwide interest. The Journal’s global reach has continued to expand, particularly through the use of digital technology and social media. We are confident that Wiley, with its notable expertise, will provide superb support for authors and subscribers, and enable IJGO to raise its profile still further.”
