Naperville, IL, United States, 2016/07/06 - Naperville Country Club has been selected by the CDGA as a host site for the 2016 U.S. Amateur Qualifier. On Monday, July 25, 90 participants will vie for the right to compete in the 2016 U.S. Amateur Tournament.

Naperville Country Club has been selected by the Chicago District Golf Association (“CDGA”) as a host site for the 2016 U.S. Amateur Qualifier. To be contested on Monday, July 25, 2016, 90 participants will vie for the right to compete in the 2016 U.S. Amateur Tournament. The U.S. Amateur is the leading annual golf tournament in the United States for amateur golfers.
“We are thrilled to announce the return of the U.S. Amateur Qualifier to Naperville Country Club,” said NCC General Manager, Tim Anderson.” NCC last held the honor in 1999, when then amateur David Gossett qualified on our course to compete in the U.S. Amateur. Gossett went on to win the 1999 U.S. Amateur Tournament. We are excited to see what talent the qualifier brings to Naperville in 2016.”
Many of golf’s leading figures have gotten their start as U.S. Amateur Champions, including Bobby Jones, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods.

We look forward to celebrating amateur players and the sport of golf by serving as a qualifying site for this storied tournament.”
There are no age or gender restrictions on entry for the U.S. Amateur, but players must have a handicap index of 2.4 or less. The U.S. Amateur champion receives an invitation to play in all of the majors, except the PGA Championship. In addition the runner-up also receives an invitation to play in the Masters and the U.S. Open.
