For the fourth year in a row, the French Tennis Federation (FFT) and France Télévisions, in coordination with TDF and Eutelsat, will broadcast the French Open men’s and women’s singles semi-finals and finals, as well as the men’s, women’s and mixed doubles finals, in ultra-high-definition (4K). Production will be handled by EUROMEDIA in coordination with ATEME, Harmonic, 4EVER and Sony.
The matches will be broadcast live between 2 and 5 June on a channel aired by France Télévisions. In Paris and the Ile-de-France region, those with compatible television sets* can view matches on DTT (channel 81). Elsewhere in France, they can be viewed on the FRANSAT Ultra HD channel (fransat.fr), one of the free FRANSAT satellite channels (channel 444).
Live 4K television broadcast tests using high-dynamic-range (HDR) technology will be performed for the first time in France. This HDR technology makes images more realistic without overexposing very bright areas (the sun, sky, clouds, etc.) or losing details in dark areas (shadows, sunset, backlighting, etc.).
Roland-Garros spectators are able to enjoy the HDR experience on Samsung and LG television sets at the France Télévisions stand in the RGLab, which hosts a number of activities during the tournament.
Finally, UHD images will be broadcast to Canadian spectators on the TSN channel.
*The 4K or UHD television set must also be able to receive DVB-T2 and HEVC programmes. FRANSAT viewers must have UHD television sets with certified integrated satellite tuners and CI+ CAM modules
