The Group has been shortlisted this year by the Norwegian Ministry of Defenceas one of the two potential candidates for the replacement of its submarine fleet. With the Scorpene® submarine, DCNS proposes the latest generation of its sea-proven conventional- propulsion.

A historical partnership with Norway
With a proud history that extends over 400 years, DCNS is also a historical partner of Norway. This successful partnership started in the 1980s with the Hauk Patrol Boats program. In 2003, the Royal Norwegian Navy selected DCNS in partnership with Norwegian Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KDA) and UMOE Mandal shipyard to build the new Skjold-class Fast Patrol Boats. The Group is determined to strengthen its cooperation with the Norwegian Industry and is currently under discussion with several Norwegian companies including in particular KDA.

DCNS selected by Australian Government
DCNS (dcnsgroup.com), with the Shortfin Barracuda, has recently been chosen by Australian government as its strategic partner for the SEA 1000 program for the next 50 years. This decision is the start of an exclusive negotiation process that should culminate by 2017 for a first contract signature.

Expertise and cutting edge technology direct from French naval programs
The Group works very closely with the French Navy to offer sea- and combat-proven ships developed out of operational crew feedback from in-theatre operation. In Norway, DCNS benefits from the strong support of French authorities and its French industry partners to propose proven solutions to meet the most demanding challenges.

UDT 2016, DCNS underwater time to market innovations

During UDT 2016, DCNS will showcase many of its innovative undersea solutions including:

• SCORPENE® class submarines, already chosen by the Chilean, Royal Malaysian, Indian and Brazilian Navies, represent the state-of-the-art in submarine design and construction and benefits from the latest technologies developed for nuclear-powered classes operated by the French Navy, particularly as regards acoustic discretion and combat system performance.
• The latest version of SUBTICS®, DCNS’ integrated combat system, with an advanced integration of the sub-systems within the Control Navigation Operation station, a most intuitive man-machine interface with optimized civil-inspired ergonomics, and high automation enabling the operator focusing on high value-added tasks.
• F21 is the new generation heavy weight torpedo that has been developed to meet the new operational challenges of all Navies. The F21 provides unrivalled underwater superiority thanks to its discretion, its extended range and its firepower. The F21 will arm the French Barracuda class SSN and SSBNs.
• MU90 is the latest generation light weight torpedo that can be deployed from any naval or air platform. The MU90 is able to counter any kind of conventional or nuclear submarine. Produced in more than 1000 units, the MU90 is arming the French, Italian, German, Danish Polish and Australian navies.
• CANTO® represents a breakthrough in the field of torpedo defence. It is designed to protect any platform, submarine or surface, against the most advanced torpedoes and the previous generation of torpedoes as well. CANTO® is ordered by the French Navy to protect its SSN and SSBN and by the Brazilian Navy to protect the new SSK fleet. Unlike the classical decoys aiming at seducing the attacking torpedo by recognizing its acoustic signal and reproducing one false target, CANTO® is based on dilution/confusion principle. CANTO® countermeasure acts completely independently of the torpedo threats thus offering a protection against numerous simultaneous torpedo attacks even in case of unknown torpedo threats.

DCNS’ strong presence in the naval domain is further explained on the company’s website through a variety of accompanying images and videos.
