Silverchair has implemented ReadCube’s enhanced PDF technology for ASHA on their SCM6 platform. Over 18,000 articles will be available in enhanced PDF format, including those in the newly launched Perspectives of the ASHA Special Interest Groups.
ASHA readers will enjoy the familiar, print-like layout of PDFs but benefit from the ReadCube-powered enhanced PDF technology, which makes possible innovative article features such as hyperlinked in-line citations, annotation tools, clickable author names and figures, citation history, and direct access to supplemental content.
“Of our more than 186,000 members and affiliates, the vast majority are in the field delivering services, leaving them with limited time to keep up with the latest literature,” says Michael Cannon, Director of Serial Publications and Editorial Services. “Our platform was built specifically to provide connections to related information and help members get more value from their publications. The typical PDF, though, falls short in that regard. With ReadCube Connect (readcube.com), everything is one-click away--users can easily access supplemental audio and video files, discover related articles, and make notes and other annotations on articles that they can refer back to.”
For offline reading, readers can choose to save ASHA articles as standard PDFs to their desktops, or choose to save the enhanced PDF version alongside their full complement of enhancements and annotations, to any of ReadCube’s free desktop (Mac/PC) or mobile (Android/iOS) apps.
“The PDF is just one facet of the research which authors have worked tirelessly to share with the research community.” Says Robert McGrath, co-founder and CEO of ReadCube. "We are thrilled to be embarking on this partnership with ASHA and Silverchair to support their authors and readers in seamlessly connecting their papers to the related supplemental data and to the greater world of research."
