Amman is one of six major destinations hosting the annual event, which brings together experts in the hospitality fields to discuss latest developments in the hotel industry in the region and ways to press forward for excellence in the field.
Held between the 15th and 22nd of March, 2007, the roadshow encompasses a series of industry workshops that are taking place in Amman, Doha, Dubai, Kuwait, Jeddah and Riyadh.
Bringing together over forty experts from Starwood hotels worldwide, this special event provides an excellent opportunity for hotel industry specialists to discuss business opportunities as well as exchange views and expertise on the latest developments in the industry regionally and globally.
"We are delighted to host such a global event as it is a unique opportunity for us in Jordan to learn about the on-going hotel and leisure developments taking place across the region. Starwood's projects are moving at a very fast pace and therefore it is important for all experts to gather together at a time when the hotel industry in the Middle East is growing at lot faster rate than expected," said Mr. Gerhard Mansbart, General Manager, Le Méridien.
One of the major developments in Jordan's hotel industry was announced at the roadshow shedding light on an agreement between Saraya Aqaba Real Estate Development and Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, the premium hotel operator and leisure company to operate three hotels at the Saraya Aqaba project, including the Westin Aqaba Resort under the "Westin" brand and Al-Manara Hotel under "The Luxury Collection" brand in addition to an adjacent "boutique" hotel.
According to Starwood officials attending the roadshow, the agreement earmarks a growing interest by the international hotels and resorts chain in Jordan with plans to boost the Jordanian hotels scene with high-standard, globally-acknowledged tourism facilities, in hopes of supporting tourism and leisure activities in the Kingdom.
