In her very first signature collection, Jordy Fu was invited to debut at Arab Fashion Week 2015. The ‘J By Jordy’ Spring/Summer 2016 line consists of custom-tailored dresses. This White Nebula collection opened proceedings on the final day, and took the runway by storm in Dubai. Jordy Fu is an acclaimed, award-winning designer, architect and artist, and was thrilled with the outcome of her induction into the world of haute couture, as a culmination of years of hard work in the field of design.
“This is the realization of my childhood dreams, and after 15 years in architecture and 30 years of art, I’ve finally put my stamp on the runway,” Jordy explains. She seized the opportunity to showcase her gowns at Arab Fashion Week: “Dubai is a meeting point for east and west, and a iconic architectural platform. It is a fantastic stage that is reflective of my work and my collection. White Nebula was inspired by traditional Chinese paper cutting techniques and blended with the most contemporary architectural forms.”
Jordy’s collection (marquesandjordy.com) was warmly received with great impact and much applause, as her White Nebula Spring/Summer 2016 Collection hit the runway. J By Jordy takes an abstract form, translating the luminescent glow and undulating movement of clouds and sparkling stars into wearable luxury fashion pieces. This brand new couture line features 20 ethereal, romantically styled, sculptural dresses, in pure white, that virtually floated down the catwalk.
Jordy Fu commented: “In my mind, fashion is architecture and art. It's three-dimensional and surrounds us. Clothes are not flat fabrics; they are living, breathing beings that take form around us. My collection blends art and architecture into fashion that is full of movement and sensation.”
Arab Fashion Week ran from 31st October to 2nd November 2015, under the banner ‘Royal Signature Where Art Meets Fashion’, and Jordy also exhibited her signature luxury furniture and lighting installations in the VIP lounges there at fashion week.
