In August it was announced that Iorio’s Gelato will be opening up at the new Trowbridge Lofts, and now they’re happy to announce they’ll be opening to share their artisan Italian gelato and coffee drinks next week, starting with a ribbon cutting grand opening celebration at 9 am on Tuesday, November 10.
Iorio’s (pronounced "ee-or-ee-oes") will serve 18 flavors of gelato that will be made in-house daily, including traditional Italian favorites like pistachio, stracciatella (Italian version of chocolate chip), mango and lemon sorbets, and many more. Also, Iorio’s will feature a full coffee brew menu that includes alternative brewing techniques such as the French press, aeropress, chemex and pour-over, all featuring Zingerman’s single origin coffee, sourced from around the world. Customers are invited to sample all of the gelato flavors and different coffee offerings.
During opening week, customers will get to enjoy some exclusive grand opening benefits, including a complimentary gelato with any coffee purchase. All customers are invited to create a gelato flavor that could be featured in the store.
Inspired by their family’s Italian heritage, brother-sister duo, Mary and Nick Lemmer, opened Iorio’s in Ann Arbor in 2011. The business began when Mary started an Italian ice food cart in 2004 while attending High School in Lansing, Michigan. After graduating from the University of Michigan, Nick now leads the business expansion into East Lansing. Both siblings will be at the grand opening celebration to meet the community and personally serve gelato and coffee drinks to guests.
The new cafe in East Lansing was designed by award-winning architect, Neal Robinson, and the Iorio’s cafe in Ann Arbor recently received the American Institute of Architects (of Huron Valley) Design Excellence Award.
“After working all summer on the expansion, we’re excited to meet the community and share our gelato and coffee with everyone,” Nick said about next week’s grand opening.
