ChemImage Sensor Systems (CISS) announces that Nathaniel R. Gomer, Ph.D, Senior Scientist, will be presenting innovative results of the company's work on the development of wide-field standoff UV Raman Imaging in collaboration with researchers at the University of South Carolina at the Great Scientific Exchange (SciX) 2015 in Providence, RI.
Dr. Gomer's poster presentation entitled,"Wide-Field, Hyperspectral Raman Spectroscopy Using a Fiber Array Spectral Translator Coupled with a Spatial Heterodyne Spectrometer," is a part of the Raman Poster Session and will be on display on Tuesday, September 29, 2015. The poster presents the work led by Dr. Gomer to couple the spatial resolving power of the fiber array spectral translator (FAST) with the high throughput of the spatial heterodyne spectrometer. Dr. Gomer will be available for questions and discussions from 11:00 AM through noon on Tuesday.
"This project is allowing us to exploit the spatial heterodyne technology developed while I was at the University of South Carolina and the FAST technology developed by CISS to provide significant UV Raman throughput enhancements, thus allowing more widespread use of this valuable spectroscopic technique," said Gomer.
"The work that Dr. Gomer is presenting at SciX was funded by a NASA Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Select project," said Matthew P. Nelson, Ph.D., Chief Scientist and Business Director at CISS. "We are thankful to NASA for its support of this work and look forward to additional collaborations with them and with the University of South Carolina in the future."
The SciX conference is presented by the Federation of Analytical Chemistry and Spectroscopy Societies (FACSS), which was founded in 1973 as a Federation of member organizations for the exchange of ideas at the forefront of disseminating technical information dealing with the applied, pure, or natural sciences.
