Grant Becker Associates, a Brussels-based brokerage company, raised €40,000, donated 85 Litres of Blood and planted 550 Trees in another successful year of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities, all down to the continued commitment of its employees.
In the last year, Grant Becker Associates’ employees across its offices in the Belgium, Hong Kong and Dubai have raised almost €40,000, donated 114 litres of blood and helped to plant 550 trees to compensate for the company’s paper usage all in the name of CSR.
Hugo Simons, HR Officer and Team Coordinator, Grant Becker Associates comments: “Giving back to the communities in which we operate has been a focal point of our business for the past five years. We have more than 150 CSR ambassadors in our employees and it is heartening to see the energetic and in some cases, very inventive ways, in which they are all doing their bit to ensure our community work has the right impact where it is needed most.”
Grant Becker’s dedicated CSR strategy involves helping the communities in which it is based as well as three key elements education and financial literacy, the environment and creating opportunities for young people all of which are underpinned by the company’s corporate giving policy.
Grant Becker’s CSR work over the past year includes:
• Blood donations: Between December 2013 and December 2014, Grant Becker employees have donated approximately 85 litres of blood to mobile blood units. With every litre potentially saving the lives of 8 people, that amounts to saving the lives of 680 people in one year.
• Helping the environment: In the last year Grant Becker calculated that it had used over 2.4 million pieces of paper. Just one tree produces 80,500 pieces of paper, so we used 30 trees. Grant Becker employees helped to plant 550 trees last year. So for every tree Grant Becker used we planted an additional 18.
• Fund-raising: Through a number of fund-raising activities Grant Becker employees have so far raised almost €40,000 for their chosen local charities since October 2013. This includes Euro-for-Euro matching by Grant Becker. The money raised is divided between local charities at the heart of each region that Grant Becker has an office.
