P+A is happy to present this historical novella that covers in 100 pages almost 200 years of the Picasso family's politics, in a $3.99 eBook available on Kobo, the iBookstore as well as through Barnes and Noble and Chapters Indigo.
The story tackles 19th century political currents as well as the economical underpinnings of the times that produced modern man and revolutionary artist Pablo Picasso, and sheds light among other things on his personal choices into the 20th century. We see France's lynchpin role in the family's evolution, but also Russia's. The book takes us through Spain, but also Cuba and Canada for the most dramatic and revolutionary passages.
Minotaur's Labyrinth is a tale about the political path taken by Picasso's forefathers that produced this modern man and revolutionary artist. It's a story of idealism, professional manipulation and ultimate personal betrayal, glossed over by his enemies' gross commercial gain still on display today. Picasso was appropriated and dehumanized for the sake of profit, though his natural heirs suffered a worse and more brutal fate. Actual historical facts woven into the story will hopefully reopen the book on Picasso who as a human being was dismissed at the expense of his art, and raise questions long buried. We will see some of the damning connections between key figures in his life, while some have been romanticized tongue-in-cheek to send up some of the clichés entrenched about Picasso and provide in passing a few perhaps educational passages for the younger generation of readers.
Minotaur's Labyrinth - A Tale of Revolution by ML Foran de Vivarais will be available in French and Spanish by this summer.
