An unknown curse. A lost ship. A forgotten treasure. Welcome to the Caribbean.
With two published 5-star novels, author Joseph Tatner turns to action/adventure in his latest eBook release,"Caribbean Heat: The Curse of Gonzaga. Punctuated by his characteristic humor, Tatner spins a tale that grabs you from the beginning and keeps on picking up speed until the very end.
The story begins five hundred years ago, when two families in the Court of Spain fought each other behind the scenes. Don Cristobal succeeded in leading Captain Gonzaga to his death in the New World, but not before the captain uttered a curse as his Spanish vessel sank beneath the Caribbean waves. The rest of the story is set in modern times, as two American friends (Jack Brophy and Ben Carballo) take a cruise to the Caribbean. On a SCUBA diving trip, Jack and Ben retrieve several seashells from the ocean floor, only to find they are actually crusted-over golden doubloons from the lost Gonzaga ship. The two return to seek more of the coins, only to become entangled in a web of lies, bullets and blood, as unknown parties seek to kill them for some unknown reason. Betrayed by friends at every turn, will they make it out alive? This ain't no pleasure cruise!
"I try to make all my stories as realistic as possible," the author explains. "In this case, it was much easier than writing novels about the Zombie Apocalypse. I originally wrote the story back in 1993, after my first cruise, but I never proofread it or prepared it for publication. Many computers later, I found the file on an old drive and started reading it again. I had forgotten most of it, so for me, it was like any other reader enjoying it for the first time. It had a lot of fun twists and turns, so I knew I had to update it and publish it."
Joseph Tatner is the son of Jack Tatner, leader of the 1940's band, the "Song Weavers." Like his father before him, Joseph got into the entertainment business and has appeared on numerous television shows, in film, on stage and on radio. He attributes his ability to create compelling, interesting characters to his acting background, which requires getting inside the head of a non-existent character.
"Caribbean Heat: The Curse of Gonzaga" is currently available at Amazon, iTunes, Barnes and Noble, and many other online distributors of eBooks. Joseph Tatner's novels are published by Munched Kitty Publications.
