Since the 16th Century, miniature artists work diligently in fine art from original paintings to sculptures to create miniature masterpieces often referred to as ‘little jewels.’ Artists use specific techniques to portray subjects from life-sized to ‘minute’ in scale. The artists, who often use magnifying lenses and close-range binoculars, miniaturize every brush or pencil stroke. They create miniature works of art with remarkable results in excellence, fine detail and brilliant visual expression.
This much anticipated ‘24th International Miniature Art Show’ opens at Seaside Art Gallery May 2nd through May 30th, 2015. It features more than 500 original works of art and includes renowned miniature artists from around the world. New pieces arrive daily at the gallery and can be viewed and purchased both in the gallery and online.
“We are pleased to present this extraordinary art show each year. We first created the event to showcase the diverse talents of local, national, and international artists through miniatures. The show has achieved international notoriety. It is now one of the twenty recognized Miniature Art Shows in the USA,” says Melanie Smith, owner of the family owned and operated gallery. “We have new pieces arriving daily, and they are breathtaking. The pieces can be viewed and purchased both in our gallery and on our website online. Inquiries are welcome.”
Any one attending the show in May can vote for their favorite “mini” for the People’s Choice Award. The winning piece will be announced along with the Judge’s awards at a special awards reception at the gallery on Saturday May 23rd, 2015, 7pm-9pm. This year’s Judge is Judy Lalingo who is an esteemed Signature Member of the Miniature Artists of America. The awards reception is free to the public. Refreshments are served. Attendees can see the award winning pieces, and meet many of the artists and Judge in person.
