Vuevent, a web-based platform for event and activity discovery, announced today the availability of its new mobile app in the iTunes App Store. Like its web-based counterpart, Vuevent’s mobile app facilitates the creation, discovery and sharing of local events.
Vuevent allows users to connect with local businesses and community members through a personally tailored feed of events, activities, moments and recommendations. Users can also view other nearby events and activities their friends are attending and have the flexibility to add them to their personal calendars. Vuevent breaks down the walls of the traditional event discovery process by allowing users to find and virtually experience what is going on around them, in real time.
“We created Vuevent because we felt that there wasn’t a comprehensive way to promote and discover local events,” said Brent Shafer, CEO of Vuevent. “The Vuevent moblie app provides local businesses a targeted mobile marketing platform to promote their events and activities. In turn, the app connects users not only to businesses they want to support, but to events they care about as well.”
Vuevent users can create a profile via their personal social media account or a stand-alone Vuevent account. They then can select their interests from an extensive list of popular activities in order to generate a personal event feed. For each suggested event, interest tags reflect related categories of events, from nightlife and dancing to science and art. For each event, users can view a detailed description, including date, time and location. If the user would like to attend a specific event, he/she can add this event to their personal calendar, or favorite the event for future reference and to continue to personalize their recommendation feed.
Initially focused on events for universities and businesses in the Denver/Metro area, Vuevent has now expanded their presence to Austin, Texas. Vuevent plans to expand to many more major cities in the spring of 2015.
The Vuevent app is currently available in the App Store with plans to release an Android app in the spring of 2015.
