Sgt. Jarom Vahai, U.S. Marine Corps veteran and former president of the Veterans Resource Center at Skyline College in San Bruno when it opened in 2010, has published his first book,"Why Do We Use 360 degrees?" that sheds light on a code hidden within the Pyramid of Giza.

Vahai, who loves science but struggles with math, writes in the book about his ups and downs over several months as he investigated clues that are hidden in the pyramid. He finally figured out how to decipher the code and in the process discovers that the Egyptians were the original inventors of 360 degrees.

Vahai also gives five math proofs and explanations, which show that the Egyptians had a more complex knowledge of mathematics than previously expected. Their ancient structures help tell time, measure the circumference of the earth, and pinpoint their location on earth -- very similar to GPS devices we use today.
When reading the book, you will discover the three valuable clues hidden in the pyramid that Vahai found and you will be able to put the pieces together, just as he did, to decipher the code that is a revelation into the ancient Egyptians' minds.

"It reveals stunning new information about how the Egyptians use complex math concepts, one of which was inventing a system for measuring and calculating angles," Vahai wrote in an email. "Educators will appreciate the science and math content as well the new findings presented in the book, which finally explains the rationale behind 360 degrees and how it was invented. Parents will love that their children will have answers for a concept that has been poorly explained for literally thousands of years."

"This (book) is so well written," wrote Skyline College Professor Rachel Bell in an email statement. "It is fluid, clean and well-crafted. This is really a page turning read on a topic not many would think they would enjoy reading about."

Vahai grew up in California and Hawaii, and lives in San Francisco. He served more than 12 years in the military, specializing in land navigation, until he was medically retired in 2011. He still suffers from major injuries he incurred five times while fighting in Iraq during his two tours there.

In 2011, Vahai gave a presentation at Stanford University about his discovery of a single math equation that shows how pyramids and Stonehenge are built to the right dimensions for measuring the size of the earth.
Also in 2011, Vahai was honored with the District 19 Veteran of the Year Award from then Assemblyman Jerry Hill for his unwavering efforts to help his fellow veterans get jobs in the high tech industry. His efforts also earned him recognition from Rep. Jackie Speier who appointed him to serve on her Veterans Advisory Committee, which led to his meeting with President Barack Obama in Washington, D.C., and becoming a member of Obama's Community Leader Committee.

Currently chairman of the Veterans Employment Commission of San Mateo County, he is also the founder of the nonprofit Green Careers 4 Veterans in San Francisco.

Vahai's 100-page e-book, the first book in his planned series,"Reviving the Wisdom of the Ancients," is filled with history, archeology, math, helpful diagrams, photos, tables, and more.

"This research is not published anywhere else and almost no one is aware of my discovery," wrote Vahai. "The book is on sale on Amazon.com for $3.49.

It's available only on Kindle at this time but Kindle has a free phone app for iphones and android phones."
