The COM Express Type 6 module features 4th generation Intel® Core™ i7/i5/i3 or Celeron® processor with Intel® Q87 chipset. With unparalleled computing performance, low power consumption, wide temperature, and seismic design, this rugged basic-size SoM (system on module) is ideal for graphics-intensive and rich I/O applications, i.e., telecommunication, medical imaging, digital signage, gaming machines, military, and networking.
“In conjunction with Axiomtek’s baseboard CEB94006 or user-supplied carrier board, the advanced module supports maximum up to 24 lanes of PCIe to provide rich I/O options. Furthermore, integrated with Intel® Generation 7.5 graphics, the CEM880 correspondingly increases its display ability, offering 3D clear video HD, triple view, quick sync video and wireless display. Graphics outputs include VGA, LVDS and three DDI ports supporting HDMI/DVI/DisplayPort. The high performance SoM is aimed to accommodate the growing trend of high definition display needs,” said Yifei Wang, product manager of Product Planning Division at Axiomtek.
The system is designed purposely for ease of integration and flexibility. It offers one onboard 4 GB extended temperature DDR3L chip, and one 204-pin SO-DIMM DDR3L socket supporting up to 8 GB. Following the latest PICMG Rev 2.1 specification, the CEM880 supports serial signaling protocols, including one PCIe x16 v3.0, eight PCIe x1, four SATA-600 with Intel® Rapid Start Technology and Intel® Smart Response Technology, one Gigabyte Ethernet supporting Wake-on-LAN, HD audio, one LPC interface, one SPI interface, four channels in and out Digital I/O, eight USB 2.0, and four USB 3.0. Hardware monitor, TPM 1.2, SMBus and Watchdog Timer are among its long list of useful features.
