With the completion of the BetaPlanner project for campaign planning and detailed scheduling on its Hot Strip Mill in Aviles, Arcelor Mittal now has a flexible and powerful solution to select the best suited campaign and to optimize the line-ups (coffins) of the HSM.

In December 2006, Arcelor Mittal extended its collaboration with AIS in the field of Supply Chain Management Optimisation by implementing the AlphaPlanner and Material Flow Coordinator (MFC) solutions. The AlphaPlanner will optimize the detailed scheduling of the 2 twin-strand casters while the MFC will synchronize the 2 casters and the HSM in order to improve hot charging ratios.

The project has started in December 2006 and is due to be finalized mid 2007.
