Local businessman Andrew Ford and his wife, Elizabeth Lathrop Ford, along with local resident Chieko Bransome, have acquired the collection and website of Jack Vinales Antiques. The store will maintain the name of founder and beloved figure Jack Vinales, who passed away in July, and will continue to operate from its present location at 500 S. Pineapple Avenue, Sarasota, Florida 34236. The website remains JackVinalesAntiques.com.

Established in 1989, Jack Vinales Antiques offers an eclectic selection of modern and classic fine art and objects, including mid-century modern, 1950s, art deco, post-war modern and 1960s pop design. The showroom often includes pieces by Eames, Nelson, Van der Rohe, Herman Miller, Saarinen, Bertoia, Nakashima, Knoll, Rhode, Platner, Paulin, Heywood Wakefield, and other notable designers.

Some of the Jack Vinales collection will be auctioned off, along with countless other items, at 1 pm., Saturday, October 25, at the Sarasota Estate Auction house at 6030 N. Lockwood Ridge Road in Sarasota, Florida. The auction will be simulcast worldwide for online bidders through Sarasota Estate Auction (sarasotaestateauction.com) in association with LiveAuctioneers.com and Invaluable.com. The public can preview the offerings at the auction house on Thursday and Friday from 10 am. to 5 pm., and Saturday before the auction from 10 am. to 1 pm. Complimentary refreshments, wine and beer will be served Saturday starting at 11 am.

Items to be auctioned off include fine art, Old Master paintings, estate furniture, bronzes, sterling silver, Asian and Continental porcelains and lighting.

The Fords own Ford Art and Antiques (andrewfordfineart.com) at 136 South Pineapple Avenue in downtown Sarasota, which specializes in 18th, 19th and 20th century fine art, antiques and accessories. In 2013, they expanded by leasing a large space just down the street at 522 South Pineapple Avenue at the Sarasota Trading Company, which features more mid-century modern furniture and paintings.

Recently, they opened Sarasota Estate Auction, a 7,000-square-foot auction house with seating for up to 100 people. Live in-house bidders compete against online bidders who have either placed previous bids, known as left bids, or are bidding online in real time.

For reserve seating at the October 25 auction, please call 941-359-2500. To inquire about consigning your high-quality items in future auctions, contact Austin Helmuth at 941-366-8400 or Andrew Ford at 941-650-8854.
