Dropcam and Nest Products Work Together to Improve Home Safety
DENVER CEDIA Expo - Nest Labs, Inc. (nest.com) today announced the addition of Control4, Crestron®, Remote Technologies Incorporated (RTI) and URC® along with Dropcam to the growing family of products, apps and services that work with Nest. By working with leading whole-home automation systems and the products they often connect to, Nest is making it easier for professional installers to bring Nest into their business, and providing consumers with more ways to experience Nest in their homes.
“We launched the Works with Nest program with consumer brands including Whirlpool, Jawbone and LIFX, forming meaningful connections like appliances that knew not to run when energy prices were high or light bulbs that flashed when your smoke alarm went off,” said Matt Rogers, founder and vice president of engineering, Nest. “Today, we’re excited to bring Works with Nest to whole-home automation. Professional installers are a key market partner for Nest and we’re committed to enabling our products to connect with the home automation systems they trust and install every day.”
“When the Nest Developer Program first launched, we were excited for the opportunity to work with Nest.” said Pete Baker, vice president of sales and marketing, RTI. “With our new Works with Nest integration, our dealers can now provide intuitive access and control of the popular Nest products through the award-winning wired, wireless and app-based user interfaces from RTI offering a truly integrated solution to their customers.”
Dropcam (dropcam.com) now also works with Nest to help keep homes safe. Dropcam cameras have always allowed customers to access high-quality live or stored video of their home or business from their computer, tablet or smartphone, and to receive alerts from anywhere in the world. Now, when your Nest Protect: Smoke + Carbon Monoxide™ alarm goes off, Dropcam will record a clip of the smoke or carbon monoxide event and automatically save it for you, regardless of whether you’re paying for Cloud Recording service. And when you set your Nest Learning Thermostat™ to Away and walk out the door, Dropcam automatically turns on motion alerts so you’ll know if there’s anyone in the house. And for customers who have questions about Dropcam or how it works with Nest, Dropcam phone support coverage will be extended to 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Professional installers can purchase Nest products including the Nest Learning Thermostat, Nest Protect: Smoke + Carbon Monoxide and Dropcam from major distributors including AVAD, The Catalyst Group, Power House Alliance and other custom electronics and security trade retailers across the country.
