In the role of CFO, Borcheck is responsible for directing the primary fiscal functions of the organization, including oversight for financial contracts, cash flow, and financial and trend reporting. Borcheck joined Special Olympics Florida in August.
Special Olympics Florida is a 501©(3) not-for-profit organization that provides people with intellectual and developmental disabilities the opportunity to build confidence, discover independence and develop friendships as they take part in hundreds of annual sports trainings and competitions at no cost to the athletes or their families.
In her role at Special Olympics Florida, Borcheck will also serve as Vice President of the Special Olympics Florida Foundation, where she will be responsible for managing annual funds, major gifts and grants.
“As an organization with more than 25,000 athletes and 17,000 volunteers that provides more than $1 million in health services, the appointment of Teresa to CFO is a critical step to ensuring that Special Olympics Florida will continue to foster sound financial practices, allowing us to expand our delivery of services to more people with intellectual and developmental disabilities across the state,” said Sherry Wheelock, Special Olympics Florida President and CEO.
“In addition to being personally rewarding, I’m incredibly proud to be part of an organization that not only makes a local impact but also contributes to building awareness worldwide for a population whose needs have traditionally been marginalized,” said Borcheck.
Before joining Special Olympics Florida (specialolympicsflorida.org), Borcheck worked with SunTrust Banks as Senior VP, Florida Regional Manager for Endowments and Foundations, where she led a team of Trust and Investment Professionals serving non-profit clients including colleges, universities, hospitals, religious organizations, and corporate and private foundations. Most recently, she also served as Director of Development for the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy. Borcheck currently serves on the board of the Florida College Systems Foundation and will continue in her role as President of the Hans & Cay Jacobsen Foundation.
