Samitivej celebrated its 35th anniversary with a commitment to enhancing customer experience through the “Totally, Truly Care” concept, offering customized service to individual customer, and expanding social contribution through its well established New Life Fund with an aim to provide free bone marrow transplants for five pediatric patients. Its expertise in children healthcare, bones and joints, digestive system and liver are in highlight.
Chairat Panthuraamphorn, M.D., Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Samitivej Public Company Limited, said,“Since its inception, Samitivej has been strongly committed to offering high quality medical treatment and services to all customers. This has enabled Samitivej’s to win customers’ trust and loyalty throughout the past 35 years. To leverage on this strength and offer even better experience to our customers, Samitivej has created a new concept “Totally, Truly Care” that emphasizes on comprehensive service offerings designed based on its insight of customers’ needs.”
Under the new concept, Samitivej further develops all services to increase customer satisfaction. Such improvement begins from establishing the right attitude among its employee and staff members by encouraging its people to stand in the patients’ and their families’ shoes, instilling and strengthening the right attitude that Samitivej is here to help people return to good health and not to take advantage on the patients, and offering warm and friendly environment within the hospital. To achieve this, trainings are offered to all level of staff members and employees to ensure they are good representatives of Samitivej and are committed to provide good services for the benefits of patients and all visitors. New technologies have been deployed to increase efficiency in patient registration and record management, appointment with doctors, and faster patient transfer.
Dr. Chairat added,“Good service is the key to excellence. In addition to medical treatment quality and state-of-the-art equipment that all hospitals have to keep improving, pricing is one of the top factor patients consider in making decision on their hospital choice. What we are going to do is to show them that the service we offer and the experience they get are all worth every single baht they spend with us.”
In terms of medical service, Samitivej has adopted holistic approach as it realizes the importance of health as the essence of a perfect and happy life. State-of-the-art technologies are therefore being acquired and used to help save patients and educate the public in order that they understand and can prevent diseases and unwanted symptoms.
“This year, we will focus on enhancing three key medical expertises children patient care through the opening of the Samitivej International Children’s Hospital, digestive system care by development of the Liver and Digestive Institute, and bones and joints through the development of the Sports and Orthopedic Center,” said Chairat.
Samitivej International Children’s Hospital was opened early 2014, leveraging on its strength and expertise in children patient care. With a team of more than 150 medical experts with specialization on children’s health and treatment, the hospital is capable of offering tertiary medical treatment for neonatal and young patients as well as land and air transport of young patients in and outside Thailand.
Liver and Digestive Institute has also been improved to offer friendlier and warmer environment to increase customers’ satisfaction and experience. All services related to diagnosis of digestive system and liver diseases are integrated into this center, reducing patients’ time to visit different departments to get all the check-up done while allowing medical team to handle more patients at a time. Dedicated teams of specialists are ready to provide fast and accurate diagnosis to increase treatment efficiency.
Sports and Orthopedic Center has brought sports medicine to its customers, enabling them to enhance their sports capability, recover faster from injuries caused by sports, and prevent injury while playing sports. The center is manned by orthopedic and sport medicine specialists and equipped by state-of-the-art equipment. As part of this center, the first Revision Spine Center or Failed Back Center in Thailand and the Asia-Pacific was established to help patients who suffered repetitive illness after bones and joint operations. The Revision Spine Center can eliminate such illness and at the same time promotes knowledge and research on bones and joints which is very useful to medical development and improved care and treatment for patients with spine problems.
In addition to the expertise in the three areas, Samitivej has introduced and applied the “Totally, Truly Care” concept to its social contribution activities through the New Life Fund.
Professor Emeritus Chanika Tuchinda, M.D., the advisor to the Samitivej International Children’s Hospital explained that the “Samitivej New Life Fund” has been providing free heart surgery for children with congenital heart disease since 2010 and has already completed 100 operations. The Fund will next go on with its second project “Bone Marrow for New Life”.
“Samitivej has strong team, expertise, knowledge and good equipment for bone marrow transplants. Coupled with our expertise in bone marrow transplant, Samitivej can provide effective treatment for genetic diseases in children patients, such as cancer that can be cured through bone marrow transplant. The Samitivej New Life Fund aims to provide bone marrow transplant for five children patients within 2014. This is to save more lives and to celebrate the 60th birthday anniversary of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in 2015. We also plan to offer surgery for scoliosis patients, from newborn to teenagers. Samitivej will organize a road show to various schools from June to July this year to provide health education and at the same time screen children patients,” said Chanika.
