Perceptive Software, Inc., today announced that Diversified Radiology of Colorado, P.C., implemented ImageNow® document imaging, document management and workflow software to invigorate the company's billing and other business operations.
Diversified Radiology is a professional corporation of 65 Radiologists that uses state-of-the-art teleradiology technology to deliver a comprehensive range of specialized imaging services throughout the Rocky Mountain Region. The company staffs a dozen hospitals, an equal number of outpatient facilities and consults for centers in Vail, Breckenridge and the Antarctic Survey program at McMurdo Base, Antarctica.
Perceptive Software technology had an immediate impact on Diversified Radiology's bottom line and has increased productivity on insurance follow-ups. Using ImageNow's capture features, the company eliminated $2,500 in monthly, off-site scanning fees, enabling staff to efficiently capture and process more than 90,000 documents per month. Electronically processing Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), radiology-dictated reports and miscellaneous correspondence frees Diversified Radiology's staff from the paper trap, saving countless work hours. ImageNow also has streamlined human resources and accounts payable procedures.
"We had to have a vendor that was knowledgeable about Radiology," said Len Shepard, director of Business Services for Diversified Radiology. "We did a comprehensive evaluation of multiple products, and ImageNow was better than anything else we looked at. It provided immediate savings and is so much better than paper processes because we have less 'busy work.' We gave staff the option of using ImageNow or the old system, and they quickly chose ImageNow because it is so easy to use."
Using patented integration technology, ImageNow provides instant access to documents from any of Diversified Radiology's business applications, allowing staff to leverage document imaging functionality within a familiar environment. When working on a patient account, all relevant documentation is just a click away. This feature allows workers to answer physicians' inquiries immediately.
"Before implementing ImageNow, finding account information was difficult," said Shepard. "We had to identify the correct batch, enter the date and posting time in another application, search through up to 300 documents and hope they were sorted alphabetically. With ImageNow, we just enter a name, click the ImageNow button and the complete record pops up immediately."
Innovative workflow features enable Diversified Radiology's ImageNow users to route incoming documents electronically to the appropriate queue. Coders make annotations within the ImageNow environment rather than having to locate and write on paper records. These advantages speed the billing process and staff can monitor thousands of coded documents throughout the documents' life cycle.
"Our staff is very enthusiastic about ImageNow's ability to quickly move documents back and forth through workflow queues," said Shepard. "It is so much better than using paper. We always know where documents are and there are no missing files."
