Relief-Mart, Inc., maker of innovative health, comfort and sleep products, just launched an ambitious campaign to show the world what they hope will be a new category in mattresses that is somewhere between a memory foam and traditional in feel. Dubbed as a "Memory Foam Infusion," the new breed of mattresses will have an appeal those who like memory foam because of its contouring feel and those that don't like memory foam due to its short comings, cites Dr. Rick Swartzburg, D.C., head of product development for the company. "After 14 years of developing mattresses, I had been looking to develop a mattress that not only addressed the concerns that our customers had with memory foam, but also was affordable enough to appeal to the masses." Dr. Swartzburg goes on to relay that by reaching out to Kickstarters first, he can test the viability of this new category in a very interactive and responsive way.

The new mattress technology will address the long standing concerns that memory foam mattress customers have with excessive heat build-up, excessive out-gassing of V.O.C.'s (volatile organic compounds), difficulty in moving around on the mattress due to too much sinking down of the body, and too high of a price tag. "The Cozy Cloud mattress strike the right balance of support and comfort, so unlike a poor innerspring and air mattress, you won't end up without any back support and wind up feeling like you are sleeping in a hammock," offers Dr. Swartzburg. He goes on to relay that this new memory foam fusion technology contours like regular memory foam, but offers a more buoyant support that puts it into a category that is more of cross breed between memory foam and high density traditional or latex foam, only with a more supple feel than what you would expect from either, thereby giving credence to the Cozy Cloud name. The Cozy Cloud mattress also uses a patented technology to reduce heat build-up through a patented Airflow Transfer System that allows the cooler air to ventilate through the mattress through thousands of small surface holes and underlying channels, while simultaneously allowing heat to radiate off the body.

But will the Kickstarter community take a chance on a mattress that has not been tested personally before backing the campaign? Dr. Swartzburg thinks the answer is yes, but he knows that like the many thousands of more costly mattresses that his affiliated websites like Selectabed.com and Tempflow.com have has sold over the years, it is going to take some very persuasive convincing. Fortunately, his company has a proven track record for successfully selling and satisfying customers by the thousands every year and 5 star ratings to back up his claim on prestigious websites like Yelp and mattress reviewing websites like Beds.org and Goodbed.com. "It really comes down to putting out a design that works and then following that up with the very best customer service that caters to each individual's needs," says Dr. Swartzburg. "Not every mattress is going to work perfectly, but for the 2% that we did not match up correctly, we are the best in the business at coming up with a customized solution to help their particular needs."

So, can a new category of mattresses work in the crowd funding world of Kickstarter? Only time will tell, but if past experience is any determination, this might be an exciting campaign to follow.
