NewswireTODAY - /newswire/ - Oulu, Finland, 2014/05/23 - Codenomicon took part in the real-time network defense exercise Locked Shields 2014 this week - Codenomicon.com.

Organized by the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE) the exercise brought together close to 300 participants from 17 countries.

Locked Shields has been organized annually since 2012. The first exercise took place in 2008. It was followed by the Baltic Cyber Shield in 2010. From 2012, the event has been known as Locked Shields. Codenomicon has taken part in the event since 2010 by providing tools for collecting, analyzing and visualizing situation information from different sources and participating in the exercise.

Locked Shields is a game-based exercise with a fictional scenario. Codenomicon representatives have been members of the Yellow team processing and investigating situation awareness information and provides periodic situation updates to the exercise controllers. The Yellow team also provides communication channels for the defending Blue teams and the attacking Red team.

At this year's event there were 12 defending teams. The teams took part from their home countries, while the exercise control was located in Tallinn, Estonia.
