Based on its recent analysis of the industrial and municipal dewatering market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes Centrisys with the 2013 North American Frost & Sullivan Award for Entrepreneurial Company of the Year. Despite the competitive nature of the market, Centrisys has emerged as the only U.S. centrifuge manufacturer to offer a mobile centrifugal platform technology. Through key growth strategies and partnerships in select municipal and industrial markets, it has developed a game-changing solution for the dewatering market.
Centrisys has created an International Standard Organization (ISO)-certified centrifugal system that lowers manual labor for visual operations, reduces maintenance costs and enables the treatment of greater volumes of sludge. The system is also available on a skid-mounted trailer, aiding flexibility, maneuverability, and lower installation costs for on-demand dewatering requirements.
With regionalization and long-term, whole-scale development, the company has become a successful interim solutions provider of mobile dewatering systems. It also has a servicing and maintenance department that fixes and repairs all centrifuges, regardless of the brand.
"Being the only decanter centrifugal system manufacturer in the United States that also employs U.S.-made process components, the company has enabled immediate transportation cost-savings for municipalities and industrial end users, as well as reduced assembly for clients, rather than the European or Far-East Asian competitors. Price is a critical element in the municipal market and providing additional cost-benefits such as reduced downtime benefits end users. " said Frost & Sullivan Industry Analyst Ankur Jajoo.
Furthermore, the company utilizes a business model that includes a region-specific sales network that focuses on key states that are likely to retrofit and replace existing systems. The company refines the centrifuges to offer the specifications required for dewatering the varying sludge composition found in different states and industries. The wide range of deployments across the U.S. has helped build the brand nationally, and this region-focused business model has also held it in good stead when competing in diverse overseas markets.
Centrisys excels in a variety of projects, including multiple dewatering units, full commercial deployment, and pilot demonstrations to showcase its flexibility and excellence in growth implementation. Its centrifuge systems offer greater value additions than competing technologies by using 3-D modeling with finite analysis to validate design specifications for each facility. Additionally, the system requires only 1 to 4 hours to arrange and construct, unlike other systems that take an entire working day to implement.
The system consumes 0.11 kilowatt per gallon per minute, as opposed to the 0.23 kilowatt per gallon per minute required by standard centrifugal systems. Therefore, it has a smaller carbon footprint than conventional gravity filter presses and rotary drum thickeners. It also boasts a short return on investment payback period of 2.5 years due to the lack of a requirement for polymers.
Centrisys has also developed a new class of centrifugal separators, which are being piloted in three plants nationwide. The hybrid thickener utilizes the company's patented hydraulic assist technology, which discharges the thickened sludge more efficiently while lowering costs. This technology replaces the need for two dissolved air flotation units.
In order to expand its global presence, Centrisys partnered with Tianbao in Chengdu, China, to develop dewatering systems and technology for its Asian clients. As a testament to the company's entrepreneurial growth, it has installed more than 1,600 centrifuges around the world, using its proprietary technology to build and apply superior dewatering/separation systems.
"Centrisys' entrepreneurial excellence is evident in its resolution of industry challenges and strong competition with tier-one market participants," noted Jajoo. "Through various growth strategies, the company has been able to strategically apply its business model across the United States and other countries."
Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has demonstrated excellence in devising a strong growth strategy and robustly implementing it. The recipient has shown strength in terms of innovation in products and technologies, leadership in customer value, as well as speed in response to market needs. In short, the award looks at the emerging market players in the industry and recognizes their best practices that are positioned for future growth excellence.
Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis, and extensive secondary research in order to identify best practices in the industry.
