On Wednesday February 12th, the Charity will commemorate 30 years of service to over 20,000 families. The open house is from 10 a 2 p with a press conference at 10:30 announcing an expansion of services.
The additions include a Day Room and golf cart. Geared toward families unable to stay in the full main house, the Day Room will provide multiple families with a large living space to stay, nap, get a meal, do laundry and return refreshed to their child’s bedside. Each night the Ronald McDonald House is 100% occupied with 18 families. The Day Service could potentially serve over 50 additional families per month. The golf cart, sponsored by Chukchansi Inc., will now transport families staying at the house to the hospital entrance to be near their children.
“We’ve realized that although needed, a new, larger Ronald McDonald House is not probable in the immediate future due to development holdups within Madera County. In an effort to serve our current and waitlisted families more fully, we’ve developed the Day Room and transportation assistance. We’re confident that we have and will continue to grow our ability to serve all the families that need us. It’s been a fruitful 30 years in the Valley; full of community support and hope fulfilled to healing families. The next 30 will surely be just as much of a gift,” said Pedro Santana, Executive Director for the Charity.
Members of the Chukchansi Inc., charity board members, volunteers, staff, past and current families, public officials, dignitaries, and community members will be in attendance. The charity hopes people stop by for a tour, lunch, and to learn more about how children heal more 31% more quickly when their families stay at a Ronald McDonald House.
Open house and press conference open to the public.
