ASPIRA of Florida, Inc. will be celebrating the construction of its new ASPIRA Eugenio Maria De Hostos Charter School building with a Groundbreaking Ceremony on Wednesday, February 12. The event will feature a presentation of school renderings and details about the new curriculum set to be offered. In addition to the ceremonious groundbreaking, invitees will also gather to pay tribute to community legend Alicia Baró with the unveiling of Dr. Alicia S. Baró Way. The event is set to begin at 8:30 am. at the ASPIRA Eugenio Maria De Hostos Charter School located at 1900 N.E. Miami Ct., Miami, Fl. 33132. Among the distinguished guests invited are Miami-Dade School Board members, community leaders, ASPIRA board members, students and alumni. Attendees will gather for a breakfast to celebrate the future of ASPIRA and honor Alicia Baró, a woman whose past paved the road for organizations that share her mission.
“The beginning of construction on our new building is the fulfillment of our longstanding promise and commitment to the Wynwood community to always be an educational beacon for youth and families,” said George Cabrera, President/CEO of ASPIRA of Florida. “We’re excited to see our plans come to life and give our students the best possible academic resources, a cause for which Alicia Baró was a great advocate,” Cabrera added.
The ASPIRA Eugenio Maria De Hostos Charter School building is tentatively set to be completed by 2015 and will boast a new, modern look, as well as an educational program focused on communications, arts and media. In addition, the school building will be home to a new City of Miami Police Net Office.
