International technology Group ANDRITZ has received an order from Treofan, one of the world’s leading producers of plastic films, to deliver an 8.7 m wide manufacturing line for biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) films to Treofan’s largest development and production site in Neunkirchen, Germany. Start-up is scheduled for mid-2015.
ANDRITZ Biax specially designed the new line for Treofan to produce a differentiated portfolio of high-quality packaging and label films (e.g. complex 5-layer label films). It will allow the company to manufacture films with a wide range of thicknesses and densities as well as with various integrated product functionalities.
The plant design allows high uptime at very low energy consumption, and is prepared for further plant extensions. Special attention was paid to a fast product changeover, including high-performance and highly responsive direct dosing equipment for material supply, and the latest state-of-the-art winding technology. Peter Vanacker, CEO at Treofan, underlines: “The new ANDRITZ line concept is an essential driver for implementing our strategy of supplying innovative, high-quality films at competitive cost.”
