Alzheimer’s Association, Orange County (AAOC), one of Southern California’s premier nonprofits, today announced that tickets are available for “Creating Hope,” the organization’s signature, fundraising gala. The Saturday, March 1, event at the beautiful Balboa Bay Club in Newport Beach promises an exciting and inspirational evening, with proceeds providing help to those affected and ensuring that Alzheimer’s isn’t the legacy left to our children.

Chart-topping superstar Taylor Hicks, one of the most popular American Idol winners of all time, has been added to the gala program. This heartfelt crooner will treat guests with his take on Southern soul, R&B, country and blues. The special evening includes an elegant cocktail reception, fine dining, gala honoree ceremony, Hicks’ soulful performance and a live auction of unique experiences ranging from a one-of-a-kind Angels baseball package to a remarkable weekend at Rancho Las Lomas. Individual tickets start at $500, with premium tables of 10 available for up to $25,000.

The event is generously presented by the Argyros Family Foundation; co-chairs are Eydie and Dave MacInnis.

“We’re looking forward to hosting more than 300 esteemed guests as they join us in supporting the tens of thousands of families in Orange County affected by Alzheimer’s and related dementias,” said Jim McAleer, president & CEO of AAOC. “This year’s gala theme, ‘Creating Hope, ’ alludes to the determination of the Alzheimer’s Association to help families find the hope in a tragic disease through programs, services and research.”

Alzheimer’s is the fourth leading cause of death in Orange County, and sixth nationwide. The Alzheimer’s Association is the primary resource for families battling this disease with free services including a 24/7 helpline, support groups, research trials, educational materials. Proceeds from the March gala will go toward treatment research and will enable AAOC to continue to provide its services at no cost.

“Creating Hope” 2014 Gala Honorees include:

• Jacqueline Dupont, Irvine Cottages/Assured In-Home Care Corporate Partner
• Jody Hudson, First American Trust Volunteer Partner
• Jeanne and Brett Lawrence, Rancho Las Lomas Community Partner
• Donald (Don) Palmer Philanthropy Partner

Dazzling and unusual live auction items include:

• A one-of-a-kind Angels package includes a stadium lunch with the Angels general manager and six tickets to an Angels/Red Sox game in a luxury suite and more
• Two nights for four at the exclusive Casa Bella at Rancho Las Lomas, a dining adventure from 24 Carrots, plus a “back cage” tour with Rancho’s famous white Bengal tigers
• A fabulous weekend at the Villas at The Resort at Pelican Hill including golf and a variety of Newport Beach deluxe goodies
• A New York luxury package with all the trimmings

An opportunity drawing will be held with the lucky winner receiving a four day, three night vacation at the luxurious Four Seasons Resort, Maui at Wailea, including first-class tickets from Alaska Airlines and much more. Tickets are $100 each or three for $250. Winner need not be present to win.

Donors and sponsors include Alaska Airlines, Farmers and Merchants Trust Company, Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Rancho Las Lomas, and The Resort at Pelican Hill.

“Creating Hope” will begin with cocktails, from 5:30 to 7 pm., followed by elegant dining, awards presentations and the live auction from 7 to 9 pm. Club Hope, featuring a Taylor Hicks performance, will be from 9 to 11 pm.
