Capitalizing on the strengths of its installed base of recent and innovative machines and its know-how in machining complex parts, DCNS has been entrusted with the manufacture of a series of parts for the new Airbus A350 by Aubert & Duval[1].

The contract covers the production of rods and rocker beams forming part of the landing gear. Each of these titanium parts, which are about 3 metres in length and weighing almost one ton for the rods, requires very specific machining techniques. At the end of 2013, 45 parts, including 17 rods and 28 rocker beams were produced by the DCNS teams in Ruelle.

With this contract and the recent equipment investments made, DCNS is able to respond to the expectations of markets where there is an increasing demand for titanium parts, of which the aeronautics market is at the forefront.
