Canadian film industry stand out Brent Cote has solidified his place in Hollywood with a slate of films which will be co-produced by powerhouse management firm and production company, Madhouse Entertainment.
Coming off the success of the Oscar contender Prisoners, Madhouse is looking to expand its slate of projects being developed and produced in house. A long standing client with Madhouse, Brent Cote has announced a diverse and powerful slate of projects both in TV and film falling under the company's banner.
Cote recently teamed up with Madhouse and visual effects company Cantina Creative to bring aliens to life in a proof of concept film, SELECTION. The film spawned a feature film development deal and Cote is set to direct the visual effects heavy, high concept project in the coming year. The gritty science fiction thriller is keeping details quiet at this point, but the film promises mind bending special effects and a genre defining concept.
Brent and Madhouse are also partnering on the found footage action thriller, American Riot, and the large scale sci-fi action project Mercs, both with Cote taking on the leading writing duties. The slate of films being developed together also includes a pair of TV pilots and a large scale tent pole adventure film.
The partnership has bee years in the making, as Cote has been with Madhouse since 2009, developing projects for the international market. When Cote caught fire in Hollywood, the decision was made to produce a bulk of the content in house.
Brent and Madhouse will follow up SELECTION with Tainted, a gritty street drama with a heavy redemption theme. Brent will embody the leading roles of both writer and director on the film. Brent has also began developing a slate of graphic novels and comic books, which will also be represented by Madhouse Entertainment, proving that this partnership is going to produce a staggering amount of original content in the coming years.
Cote is also repped by The Rothman Brecher Agency for both TV and film.
