Integrated creative agency fst has been named as one of the UK’s top 100 creative small and medium sized enterprises, as part a government drive to support UK creative companies to win high value contracts overseas, worth up to £500 million, over the next three years.
The ‘Creativity is Great Britain’ campaign was launched on Thursday at a conference hosted by business secretary Vince Cable, who said,
“The growing appetite for British design offers many opportunities for innovative firms of all sizes to boost their overseas trade and attract new investment. Collectively the creative industries already generate more than £36 billion a year for the UK economy - £70,000 every minute - and employ 1.5 million people. With new support from UK Trade & Investment, we want to help creative SMEs access more high value supply chain opportunities across the globe."
Each company in the taskforce will have its own international expansion plan and be supported to participate in a minimum of two overseas visits each year to target high value projects from sectors including transport, energy, healthcare, and sports infrastructure.
fst’s Strategy Director Craig Watson said,
“We’re absolutely delighted to be included in the UKTI creative list. We’ve worked with a host of global clients, and we have an office in Singapore as well as in the UK, so we have a lot of international experience, but it’s great to have access to these high value opportunities that probably would have been out of reach to us without this support.”
fst, which is based in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, and whose clients include Canon, AVIS and Initial, finds itself in illustrious company on the list, sharing the stage with the likes of Wolff Olins, Barber & Osgerby, Landor, Mother, the British Museum and the V&A.
